Lynx can’t stop No. 15 Lions

CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City girls fell to No. 15 Clear Lake here Tuesday night in North Central Conference action, 63-28.

The unbeaten Lions used a quick 13-1 start to gain control of the contest, as the Lynx battled back in the second, cutting the deficit down. In the third, Clear Lake outscored Webster City 21-9.

Evie Davis had a team-high 14 points, adding six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss scored five points with three rebounds and Briley VanDeer added four points and three assists.

Ashley Nydegger had three rebounds, a block and a steal, while Lovie Pruismann recorded three assists.

“Clear Lake is very good,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “They pressured us all over the floor. We handled it early, but they wore us down as the game went on.

“I am proud of the effort of the girls. They fought when it wasn’t easy to fight. We need to continue to work on our offensive execution and need more girls to get involved at that end.”

Up next for the Lynx will be Clarion-Goldfield/Dows on Friday at home.

Starting at $3.46/week.
