Hawks pick up win inside Casey’s Center
DES MOINES — For the second straight season, the South Hamilton girls got the opportunity to play at the home of the state tournament.
The Hawks scored a 56-38 victory over Perry here Tuesday night inside the Casey’s Center.
Behind an 18-point first quarter, the Hawks took control of the contest early, outscoring the Jayettes in each quarter.
Emma Lammers had 11 points, Adelyn Trask nine and Kaylen Trask added eight. Rosemary Chamness recorded five rebounds and both Tessa Skartvedt and Isabel Swenson each grabbed four boards.
Lammers also dished out three assists.
“I was really happy with how our girls played,” South Hamilton head coach Mark Henderson said. “It’s a fun experience to get to play in the Casey’s Center, but you never know how the kids will perform in that kind of environment. We got off to a hot start and I think that helped calm any nerves that we may have had.
“This was one of those fun games where everyone played well. I don’t think we had anyone who had a bad night.”
South Hamilton returns home on Thursday, hosting St. Edmond to start a run of four straight games at home.
