Hawk girls take down Greene Co.
A big third quarter helped the South Hamilton girls finish off last week with a win.
The Hawks outscored Greene County in the third, 15-8, to claim a 51-41 victory last Friday night.
Up three at half time, South Hamilton found a rhythm to take control of the contest and win for the 18th straight time in the series.
“This was a good conference win for us,” South Hamilton head coach Mark Henderson said. “Greene County wouldn’t let us build a big lead. It seemed like every time we started to pull away, they would knock down a big shot or two. But I was happy with how our girls continued to attack their zone and moved the ball to get good looks.
“We also did a good job of keeping them off the boards, limiting their second-chance opportunities.”
Isabel Swenson scored 17 points, Emma Lammers added 12 and Tessa Skartvedt contributed seven with 11 rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal. Swenson also had seven rebounds and three steals, as Allie Neuberger dished out five assists.
The Hawks dropped a 46-27 decision to St. Edmond last Thursday. Skartvedt had a team-high eight points. Lammers added seven.
South Hamilton plays at home twice this week, hosting Southeast Valley Monday and Nevada Friday.
