Both Lynx squads impressive early vs. Gaels

The Webster City girls were within a single point of St. Edmond early at home on Friday night.

Down 12-11 after the first quarter, the Lynx were unable to keep the offense going, eventually falling by a final of 43-30.

Evie Davis scored seven points, with both Alivia Burns and Tristyn Wright each scoring six for the Lynx (5-7 overall, 2-4 in the North Central Conference). Jaylyn Bahrenfuss added five and Lovie Pruismann four.

Webster City trailed by six at the half and entering the fourth, but were outscored by the Gaels in the final eight minutes, 14-7. Sophia Schlienz and Chloe Palmer each scored 12 to lead St. Edmond.

The Webster City boys came out strong versus the top-ranked (Class 1A) Gaels. After the opening eight minutes of play, the Lynx held a 14-6 lead.

St. Edmond answered, using a big rally to clam a 54-35 decision.

Alex Staley led Webster City with nine points. Coyce Bertran added eight. Will Ruby contributed five, as did Jaxon Griffith, with Zack Lahr scoring four.

The Lynx trailed by just five at the break, but found themselves in a 13-point hole going to the fourth.

Hunter Horn scored a game-high 33 to lead the Gaels.

Next action for the Lynx will be Tuesday at Hampton-Dumont/CAL. Webster City then closes the week with a home twinbill against Humboldt.
