A NEW YEAR

JEWELL — The South Hamilton boys kicked off 2026 with a tough 52-23 loss to PCM here last Friday night.

Sam Koehnk led the Hawks with eight points, as both Luke Martensen and Ben Swenson each added five. Kayden Dean finished with three and Ryan Oskvig two.

“Our shot selection was improved, but we are still struggling with concepts,” South Hamilton head coach Jay Heeren said. “But we will get there. The big area we will continue to work on is offense.”

The Mustangs held the Hawks to just three points in the first quarter, as Koehnk had six in the opening half.

After taking on Perry in Des Moines from the Casey’s Center on Tuesday, South Hamilton returns home to host St. Edmond Thursday and Greene County on Friday.

Starting at $3.46/week.
