Tough contest

CARROLL — The Webster City girls ran into a tough Carroll team here last week, dropping a 47-28 decision.

The Tigers raced out to an early 10-4 lead, taking advantage of several turnovers by the Lynx. Carroll would hold a 15-point edge at the break.

Evie Davis had another big night for Webster City, scoring 10 points while recording 14 rebounds with two steals and two blocks. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss added seven points and six rebounds with two steals and two assists, as Lovie Pruismann chipped in five points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

“Defensively, we were fairly solid most of the game,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “Offensively, we struggled in the half-court. You can’t turn the ball over 32 times and expect to have a chance to win.

“The good thing is everything is correctable. The girls have continued to work hard in practice and we are looking forward to getting back out there on the court.”

Chloe Kock led Carroll with 19 points and nine rebounds, recording five steals and three blocks, as Analla Ayala added eight points.

The Lynx return to the court Thursday for the North Central Conference opener at Humboldt.

Starting at $3.46/week.
