South Hamilton boys come up short on the road
The South Hamilton boys suffered a pair of road losses last week.
The Hawks dropped a tough 55-52 decision to Iowa Falls-Alden last Thursday. They took a seven-point lead into the fourth on the road, but were unable to hold off the Cadets.
Luke Martensen scored 12 points, Sam Koehnk had 11 and Jose Babcock gave South Hamilton three players in double figures with 10. King Brown added eight and Benjamin Swenson finished with six.
“It was a great effort,” Heeren said. “We moved well on offense and rotated on defense. These young men still have a lot to learn, but they are buying into the team concept and have shown much improvement in just a couple short weeks.”
South Hamilton concluded the week with a 77-13 setback to Nevada. Martensen scored five and Koehnk added four.
“I was proud of the kids for not quitting,” Heeren said. “I strongly believe we have the ability to keep getting better.”
The Hawks return to the court on Tuesday when they host Saydel, followed by a home contest against Fort Dodge St. Edmond.
