ON THE SIDELINES
Webster City head football coach Andy Brim has been named an assistant for the 2026 Iowa Shrine Bowl, which brings together the top senior football players in the state for one final game.
The Shrine Bowl is set for July 25 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Brim will be part of the coaching staff under Bishop Garrigan’s Marty Wadle, as he was named the head coach of the North. Glenwood’s Cory Faust will lead the South team.
“I’m really honored to have the opportunity,” Brim said. “It’s really just another great testament to the kids in our program. In my mind, it’s recognizing the kids and how they play.
“They are great competitors and do things the right way, which makes my job fun.”
Brim will also be able to work with Cole Nohrenberg, as the Lynx senior has been selected for the game.
“It will be a fun week to be there with Cole, and I’m excited to see him compete against the best kids in the state,” Brim said. “I’m really looking forward to working with Coach Wadle and the rest of the North staff and learning from them also.”
Wadle led Bishop Garrigan to the eight-player state football championship for the second time in three seasons this past fall.
Since 1972, the Iowa Shrine Bowl has been held as a way to recognize senior athletes and coaches across the state. Funds raised benefit the Shriners’ Children and its mission to provide the best pediatric care anywhere, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.
Among the services offered are care for orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and more.
Over 5,000 players, cheerleaders and coaches have participated in the Iowa Shrine Bowl.
