Hawks on the mat at R-S
STORY CITY — The South Hamilton wrestling team competed here this past Saturday at the Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational hosted by Roland-Story.
Sergeant Bluff-Luton took home team honors ahead of Williamsburg and Atlantic, as the Hawks finished 20th overall in the 22-team field.
Mason Ostrem was the lone South Hamilton wrestler to earn a spot on the podium, placing sixth at 113 pounds. Ostrem scored a fall on Ryder Wildin of Winterset in the consolation round to secure his medal, falling in the fifth place match in a tiebreaker.
Kyler Ziesman earned a fall at 175 pounds in the consolations, as Parker Stuck, Gaige Willis and Brody Harris all had first round pins. Stuck bested Brody Dolph of Saint Ansgar in 3:41 at 190 pounds and Willis pinned John Beardsley of Gilbert in 2:29 at 215 pounds.
Harris downed Korbin Spangler from Southeast Valley at 285 pounds in 3:03.
