The Webster City girls came up short here Tuesday night against Iowa Falls-Alden in a 40-30 contest.

Using a 19-6 run over the second and third quarters, the Cadets were able to put some distance between themselves and the Lynx.

Evie Davis had another big game, scoring 19 points while grabbing 17 rebounds, including eight offensive boards. Lovie Pruismann and Avery Poppen each scored four, as Tristyn Wright added three points.

“It was another frustrating night at the offensive end,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “We had a lot of good looks in the paint in the first half that we just didn’t convert. We also struggled from three against their zone.

“We executed our offense pretty well…we just didn’t finish well enough or knock down shots.”

Wright, Pruismann and Jaylyn Bahrenfuss each grabbed four rebounds, as Bahrenfuss also had three assists. Wright recorded four steals on the night.

As a team, Webster City shot just 26 percent from the field and made only 1 of 10 from the 3-point line.

“Defensively, it was another good effort,” McKinney said. “We held them to four points in the first quarter and seven in the third. It is really nice to see the girls keep up the intensity at the defensive end when we are struggling on offense.

“I am proud of the effort. We will continue to work hard on our execution at both ends of the floor.”

For Iowa Falls-Alden, Elody England scored 16 points and Isabelle Janssen added 12.

Up next for the Lynx will be a trip to Algona on Friday night at 6 p.m.

Starting at $3.46/week.
