Impressive debut for Webster City girls

The Webster City girls opened the 2025-26 season with a commanding 43-29 home victory over Boone on Friday.
Alivia Burns scored 10 points and sophomore Evie Davis grabbed 15 rebounds with four assists, three blocks and two steals for the Lynx (1-0 overall).
“I’m really excited for the girls to get a win in our home opener,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “They’ve been working very hard since the summer, and are really looking to make the next step as a program.
“We knew Boone was going to bring full-court pressure all night, and we got better and better against the press as the game went on and had a dominant fourth quarter. Defensively, we held Boone to 15 points the last three quarters.”
Davis added nine points to her ledger. Lovie Pruismann added eight points with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Jaylyn Bahrenfuss scored five points and had eight rebounds, two steals, two assists and two blocks. Tristyn Wright grabbed four rebounds.
Nine of the 15 rebounds for Davis came on the offensive glass, as Webster City had 14 offensive rebounds on the night.
Avery Poppen added five points, four rebounds and two assists off the bench. The Lynx recorded 14 assists on 16 made baskets and knocked down four 3-pointers.
Ashlee Nydegger and Jayme Perez each scored as well.
The Lynx are back in action on Tuesday at Carroll.
