Hisler, Coe ready for Div. III playoff opener in Wisconsin
MEQUON, Wis. — Former Webster City standout Keegan Hisler and the Coe football team will take on Concordia Wisconsin here Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Div. III Football Championship.
Kickoff is set for noon.
The 24th-ranked Kohawks (8-2 overall) scored a victory over then-No. 19 Central last week, earning an at-large bid to the postseason. They have won six in a row since a 17-7 loss at No. 5 Wartburg in late September.
Hisler, a sophomore, has played in all 10 games for the Kohawks this year, recording 27 tackles with 2.5 for loss and a sack. He had a season-high seven tackles vs. UW-River Falls and his sack vs. Cornell in the season opener.
As a freshman, Hisler played in one game for Coe, recording two solo tackles with a pass defended.
This is the third consecutive appearance in the playoff field for the Kohawks, who went 7-1 in the American Rivers Conference.
Awaiting the winner between Coe and Concordia Wisconsin will be No. 4 Bethel on Nov. 29.
Concordia Wisconsin earned its first NCAA playoff appearance since 2013, going 9-1 and winning the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference to earn the automatic bid.
The Falcons, who play at Tomasini Stadium, have qualified five times overall.
The national championship field features 40 teams.
