Webster City doubles up as middle school XC champs

ALGONA — The Webster City Middle School cross country team swept titles recently at the North Central Conference meet.

The Lynx boys had 53 points to edge Iowa Falls-Alden by two. The Webster City girls (43 points) topped Algona (51) for the championship.

Elias Brown (12:21.40) placed fifth for the Lynx, with Kellen Walstrom (8th in 12:52.84) and Collin Wardell (9th in 13:01.47) also earning Top-10 finishes. Kade Kruger (15th in 13:18.29), Max Barrick (16th in 13:18.35) and Jack Irving (13:18.96) were next in line for the Webster City boys.

Clear Lake’s Tate Tysdahl (11:17.35) was the gold medalist.

For the Lynx girls, Quynn Pruismann (5th in 13:57.67) and Lyla Brookshire (6th in 13:57.84) led the way. Anika Weisberg (18th in 16:09.83), Florencia Bailey (20th in 16:29.51) and Lily Mourlam (21st in 16:35.65) followed for Webster City.

Meghan Korbel of Charles City was the girls winner in 12:09.94.
