The South Hamilton volleyball team lost for the first time in two weeks on Senior Night against Greene County last Thursday, but the Hawks still on the brink of a 20-victory campaign.

After sweeping through a triangular on Monday at Ogden, South Hamilton (19-13 overall) defeated Perry in four sets on Tuesday. The Hawks couldn’t hold off the Rams, though, as their five-match win streak came to an end in the regular-season finale.

South Hamilton defeated Glidden-Ralston (16-21, 21-11, 17-15), Des Moines Hoover (21-7, 21-8) and the host Bulldogs (21-16, 24-26, 15-11) in Ogden. Tessa Skartvedt had 12 kills and Fiona Rott added six against G-R. Claire Hewitt recorded 16 assists, and Emma Lammers tallied 17 digs.

Daytona Ferrie tallied three blocks. Hewitt and Ferrie were nearly perfect at the service line, with three aces each.

In the win over Hoover, Skartvedt had four kills, with Ferrie and Rott contributing three each. Hewitt finished with four ace serves.

In the victory versus Ogden, Skartvedt (15 kills) and Lammers (20 digs) led the way. Hewitt added 14 digs and 17 assists. Lammers was 11-for-11 serving.

South Hamilton downed the Jayettes, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-15. Skartvedt dominated with 21 kills. Lammers recorded 25 digs. Hewitt (17 assists) and Aliya Erickson (16 assists) helped fuel the offense.

Ferrie finished with four blocks. Skartvedt (four aces), Rott (three) and Riah Van De Pol (three) were effective at the service line.

In the 25-16, 19-25, 25-6, 25-19 loss to Greene County (14-9), Skartvedt had 14 kills and Hewitt dished out 14 assists. Lammers (16) and Skartvedt (10) reached double digits in digs. Ferrie was 15 of 15 serving.

The Hawks scrimmage Manson Northwest Webster on Friday in Jewell. They are at South Hardin on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in a Class 2A regional opener.

The Tigers are 11-18.
