South Hamilton competes in its own Jim Klein Invitational

JEWELL — The South Hamilton cross country team hosted the annual Jim Klein Invitational here last Thursday at Jewell Golf and Country.

Jesus Garcia and Hayden Hill both earned Top-10 finishes to lead the Hawks, who were 10th overall.

Garcia, a junior, clocked a time of 17:54.79 to place eighth overall. Hill, also a junior, was right behind in 18:02 for ninth.

Kaden Greenlee was 77th, Evan Gibson finished 78th, Trevor Zanker was 82nd, Caden Christensen 84th and Miguel Martinez 92nd.

Olivia Beaune led the Hawk girls to 10th overall, finishing 21st in 22:13.72. Cici Herrick was 43rd followed by Bianca Seaton (64th), Isabel Swenson (70th), Kayley Zanker (79th) and Laurel Johnson (93rd).

“Olivia set a new PR and Cici had a season-best,” South Hamilton girls head coach Emily Bochmann said. “Bianca pushed herself and attained her goal with a sore knee. Isabel and Kayley are running well through the first two miles and just need to strengthen the third.

“Going into the end of our season, we are looking strong and ready to compete.”

Roland-Story’s Corben Lucchesi was the boys race winner, while Lynnville-Sully claimed team gold. Madelyn Grothus won the girls race and West Marshall the team crown.

Starting at $3.46/week.
