Lynx fall short vs. Dutchmen

ORANGE CITY — The Webster City football team was right with MOC-Floyd Valley in the first half, but a big second half by the Dutchmen was too much on Friday night.

The Lynx (3-6 overall, 2-3 Class 3A, District 1) couldn’t find an answer as MOC-Floyd Valley (5-4, 2-4) outscored them 26-15 in the final half for a 39-18 victory.

Webster City had a strong night on the ground, rushing for 259 yards on 55 carries.

Jaxon Griffith went over the 100-yard mark with 172 on 28 carries for a 6.1 yard average. Griffith and Aiden Hinricek both had one-yard touchdown plunges for the Lynx.

Hinricek finished with 38 yards and Kaleb Hansen had 49.

Griffith led the Lynx defense with five tackles, while Coyce Bertran had four and Hinricek had 3.5.

Dylan Maasdam was the groundhog for the Dutchmen, carrying the ball 18 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns, with a long score of 80 yards.

Henry Heller carried the ball one time for a 57-yard scoring jaunt.

Quarterback Carson Carmichael was 4-for-7 for 99 yards and a 65-yard scoring strike to Heller, who had two scores of 55-plus yards.

Dradeden Punt returned a Webster City fumble 45 yards to the end zone.
