Hawks run at Nevada Invite
NEVADA — The South Hamilton cross country team was in action here Monday at the Nevada Invitational.
Jesus Garcia led the way for the Hawks, securing a bronze finish in the boys race. Garcia, a junior, clocked a time of 17:39, which was just eight seconds back of race winner Corben Lucchesi of Roland-Story.
South Hamilton placed eighth overall, as PCM won team gold.
Trevor Zanker placed 56th, Kaden Greenlee was 58th, Cade Christensen finished 59th and Evan Gibson was 62nd for the Hawks.
For the girls, Olivia Beaune was 27th overall in 23:46 followed by Cici Herrick in 38th, Bianca Seaton in 58th, Kayley Zanker in 63rd, Isabel Swenson in 69th, Laurel Johnson in 71st and Vivian Swenson in 72nd.
“Jesus had a great race,” South Hamilton head coach Emily Bochmann said. “And Miguel Martinez finished his first cross country race. Olivia did a consistent job leading the way for the girls, who were almost all within a minute of season-best times.”
South Hamilton placed ninth, as West Marshall was first. Laura Streck of Van Meter was the race winner.
