The Webster City volleyball team ran into a tough opponent here Thursday in Humboldt, falling in three sets.
Scores were 25-11, 25-11 and 25-16.
Tristyn Wright had six kills with five digs and two blocks to lead the Lynx (16-10 overall, 3-3 in the NCC). Evie Davis added four kills and a block.
“Credit Humboldt, they are a very solid team all the way around,” WCHS head coach Jess Howard said. “They have strong hitters and defenders, and do a great job of wearing you down.
“I thought our girls played their best in set three, keeping rallies going and getting hands on the ball.”
Lovie Pruismann contributed 10 assists with four digs and a block, Morgan Hackbarth had 11 digs and Clara Grossoehme recorded two aces. Ashlee Nydegger had two blocks, Janey Putney eight digs and Alivia Burns five digs.
Fifth-ranked (Class 3A) Humboldt (28-6, 6-0) secured at least a share of the North Central Conference title with the win, as they can clinch it outright next week at St. Edmond.
Webster City found out its postseason path, as they will open 4A, Region 3 play on Oct. 21 at home vs. Mason City. A win would advance the Lynx to the regional semifinals and a date with Waverly-Shell Rock.
