SIOUX CITY — The Webster City football team has been tested time after time this year, and that will continue this Friday night on the road.

The Lynx take on No. 4 (Class 3A) Sioux City Heelan in a district contest set for 7 p.m. from Memorial Field.

Webster City (2-4 overall, 1-1 in the district) suffered a 42-28 setback at the hands of Sioux Center last week, as the Warriors piled up 500 yards of total offense.

Senior Aiden Hrnicek had one of his better games on the ground, rushing 12 times for 188 yards with four touchdowns to lead the Lynx. Jaxon Griffith added 85 yards rushing and 44 yards receiving.

Both Hrnicek and Griffith have surpassed 500 yards rushing, as Hrnicek leads with 540 and eight touchdowns. Griffith has 506 and five scores, catching eight passes for 130 more yards and a sixth TD.

Grant Arends anchors the defense with 6.5 tackles for loss, Griffith has 28.5 tackles and Hrnicek, Coyce Bertran, Gavin Wynkoop and Carter Mickelson all have at least 21.5 tackles.

Sioux City Heelan (5-1, 2-0) has won three straight since a 42-41 double-overtime loss to sixth-ranked (5A) Sioux City East. University of Iowa commit Kasen Thomas leads the way for the Crusaders, rushing for 781 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Noah Conley has 709 yards passing and five TDs, as Caden Lester, Prince Weagbah, Grant Whitcomb and Jonathon Hope all have over 123 yards receiving.

Thomas, who is being recruited as a linebacker and recently picked up an offer from Michigan, has recorded 4.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. Heelan has 12 sacks, 39 tackles for loss and 16 forced turnovers this year.

Webster City and Sioux City Heelan last played in 2014, with the Crusaders scoring a 34-7 victory.

Starting at $3.46/week.
