Webster City doubles up Bulldogs in tennis, 6-3
HAMPTON — The Webster City girls tennis team capped off the North Central Conference regular season with a 6-3 win over Hampton-Dumont/CAL here last Thursday night.
Allie Severe, Gabbie Sebert, Natalie Segar and Camdyn Coons were all winners in singles for the Lynx. Olivia Bergman and Segar, as well as Sylvia Otteros and Maja Gordon, paired up for victories in doubles.
Severe earned an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot over Yesi Valenzuela in a battle of seniors, Sebert posted an 8-3 win at No. 2 and Segar and Coons won 8-3 and 8-4 at the fifth and sixth positions.
Both doubles team had no problem, winning 8-1.
“It was good to get a win as we head towards the postseason,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “I thought we came out a little flat and lethargic, but some of that might have been due to playing doubles first and just being out of sync.
“But I saw a lot of good things. It was great to see our two doubles teams get dominant wins and I saw some good things from a few girls in singles.”
Junior varsity winners for Webster City were Paisyn Bare and Greta Kenville, Alivia Hector and Miley Mason.
The Lynx will host Osage on Monday.
