South Hamilton edged on the road

PANORA — The South Hamilton football team was denied on the road here Friday night, as the Hawks were clipped by Panorama, 28-22.
Wyatt Gelder got on track with the rushing attack for South Hamilton, as the sophomore carried the ball 19 times for 152 yards with three touchdowns. Junior Maddux Becker added 56 yards on the ground, while sophomore Garrett Johnson completed 4 of 5 for 88 yards.
Kaden Dean, who ran for 25 yards, added 46 yards receiving. Lyndon Johnson caught two passes for 42.
Kash Northrop, a freshman, picked off a pass on defense.
Both Gelder and Johnson had successful two-point conversions.
For Panorama, Cruz Crandall threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns, hitting both Latyn Ashworth and Reed Draper twice for scores. Draper caught three passes for 91 yards.
Ashworth had four for 63.
Panorama took a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter before the Hawks found paydirt on a Gelder TD run. Gelder then found the end zone again, and ran in the conversion to knot the score at 14 in the second quarter.
A third Crandall touchdown pass in the first half made it 21-14 in favor of Panorama at the break. South Hamilton grabbed its first lead at 22-21 in the third quarter, but Crandall’s fourth and final TD strike wound up being the difference.
South Hamilton remains on the road for a second consecutive week, heading to Gowrie to face Southeast Valley (1-1) Friday night.
