WALL LAKE — Despite a 30-carry, 187-yard effort from sophomore Wyatt Gelder, the South Hamilton football squad couldn’t quite catch East Sac County here on Friday.

The Raiders (2-3 overall) prevailed in this Class 1A, District 2 contest, 40-30.

Gelder scored twice for the Hawks, who had 336 rushing yards. Junior Maddux Becker (98) and senior Jose Babcock (67) also scored and had productive games on the ground.

The Raiders had 261 yards and four scores rushing themselves.

South Hamilton is back in action on the road this Friday, as the Hawks take on Pocahontas Area. Two straight home contests will then conclude the regular season, as Emmetsburg and Manson Northwest Webster visit Jewell.
