Former district rivals square off here Friday night when the Webster City football team welcomes Fort Dodge.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Lynx Field.
In Week 1, Webster City (1-0 overall) was firing on all cylinders in a 42-8 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden.
Both junior Kaleb Hansen and senior Aiden Hrnicek went over 100 yards rushing, as Hansen had 142 with two touchdowns and Hrnicek added 104 with a pair of scores.
As a team, the Lynx ran the ball 44 times for 346 yards and five rushing touchdowns, averaging almost eight yards per carry. Hrnicek also hit senior Jaxon Griffith on a 23-yard TD pass, as Griffith added 62 yards rushing and Edwin Nolasco-Ramos had a rushing score.
The Webster City defense recorded eight tackles for loss and four turnovers, as both Griffith and Coyce Bertran picked off passes. Dawson Bertran and Carter Mickelson each recovered a fumble.
Fort Dodge (1-0) handled rival Mason City last Friday night at home, winning 20-14. Dreshaun Ross, a three-time defending state wrestling champion who has committed to Oklahoma State, had three sacks, four tackles for loss, 59 yards rushing and a touchdown in his return after missing his junior season due to injury.
Tru McBride completed 6 of 14 for 64 yards and added two rushing touchdowns while University of Iowa football commit Noah Daniel ran for 76 yards.
Will McElroy led the FDSH ground attack, carrying the ball 24 times for 125 yards, as Fort Dodge rushed for 255 yards on 48 totes.
The Lynx have dominated the series with the Dodgers, winning all four meetings since 2021. Last year, Webster City claimed a 41-13 victory, as they won by seven in 2023 and by more than 20 points in both 2022 and 2021.
