DES MOINES — The South Hamilton volleyball team took part in a triangular with Saydel and Nevada here Monday night.

After sweeping Saydel, the Hawks dropped a Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference match to No. 15 (Class 4A) Nevada.

South Hamilton (9-10 overall) used a strong closing run vs. Saydel to take the opening set, 25-20, before winning the second, 25-12. Nevada posted three straight set wins by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-13 for the win.

Tessa Skartvedt recorded 10 kills and seven aces in the two matches to lead the way for the Hawks. Fiona Rott added six kills. Claire Hewitt recorded five aces with four kills.

South Hamilton came into the triangular having gone 3-3 at the South Central Calhoun Early Bird Tournament over the weekend. They picked up wins over Pocahontas Area, Spencer and Perry, falling to Audubon, the host Titans and Manson Northwest Webster.

Next action for South Hamilton will be Thursday when they play Earlham and Nodaway Valley at the Perry Invitational.
