Lynx finish up frenetic first week

FORT DODGE — The Webster City volleyball team capped off a busy week by competing in the St. Edmond Invitational held at Iowa Central on Saturday.
The Lynx went 3-2, earning wins over Bishop Garrigan, Pocahontas Area and the host Gaels in straight sets. They dropped matches to Southeast Valley and Aplington-Parkersburg.
In the win over the Golden Bears, Jaylyn Bahrenfuss and Evie Davis both had five kills. Tristyn Wright recorded 10 assists with four kills. Lovie Pruismann contributed five digs.
Pruismann tallied seven assists, three kills and a block vs. Pocahontas Area, as Morgan Hackbarth picked up 11 digs with two aces. Bahrenfuss recorded seven kills vs. St. Edmond, as Wright had four and Hackbarth had seven digs.
Wright had eight kills and Bahrenfuss seven against Southeast Valley, with Hackbarth and Pruismann each picking up eight digs.
Alivia Burns tallied six digs vs. Aplington-Parkersburg and Davis had three blocks.
On Thursday, the Lynx secured a five-set victory at Boone.
Scores were 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25 and 15-11.
Wright had 16 kills, 16 assists, 12 digs and five blocks, Davis recorded 11 kills and eight blocks while Morgan had 29 digs and four aces.
Pruismann chipped in 12 assists, 11 digs, two kills and a block, as Bahrenfuss had six kills with six digs, five assists and a block. Hailey Brim was 16 of 17 serving with two aces and 10 digs.
“It was good to see the girls keep their composure and not tighten up in the fifth,” WCHS head coach Jess Howard said. “They game right out and set the tone.”
Webster City heads to Algona on Thursday for North Central Conference action.
