Lynx can’t slow Humboldt

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City baseball team finished their postponed North Central Conference doubleheader with Humboldt here Wednesday.

The Wildcats scored nine in the first inning on their way to a 13-2 victory in five innings. Humboldt also won the opener back on Monday in Webster City, 13-2.

Brady Asklund drove in two runs while Carter Mickelson had two hits — including a double — for the Lynx.

Gavin Griffith recorded two hits as well. Alex Staley and Mickelson each scored runs.

Next action for Webster City will be Friday when they travel to Boone. The Lynx head to Des Moines for the Jim Gebhart on Saturday with host 10th-ranked (Class 3A) Saydel, No. 3 (2A) Van Meter and Grand View Christian in attendance.
