LEAGUE CONTEST

The Webster City softball team dropped an 11-2 decision in five innings here Wednesday to seventh-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond.

After allowing the Gaels to take control of the game early with two runs in the first, the Lynx battled back to get a run across in the bottom of the opening inning.

St. Edmond, though, answered with three in the third and six in the fifth around a run by Webster City in the fourth.

Morgan Tempel had the lone hit for the Lynx with an RBI. Morgan Hackbarth also had an RBI as Cloe Savitski and Briley VanDeer both scored runs.

For the Gaels, Faith Shirbroun and Lauren Gibb each had a home run, as Shirbroun drove in four and Gibb two.

The Lynx head to Algona on Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. before taking part in the Roland-Story Classic on Saturday against Glenwood and No. 14 (4A) Bondurant-Farrar.
