Hawks post big win in softball
ELDORA — The South Hamilton softball team dominated South Hardin here Tuesday night, posting a 13-1 victory in five innings.
The win snapped a three-game losing skid for the Hawks, who had a stretch where they went 3-2 over seven days earlier this month.
South Hamilton broke the game open early vs. South Hardin, scoring seven in the first inning. They added a run in the second and one more in the fourth before scoring four in the fifth.
Claire Hewitt and Adelyn Trask both recorded triples, while Emma Lammers and Jillian Hesse each doubled.
Trask drove in three runs and both Hewitt and Emma Ammerman plated two.
Hewitt scored twice with two hits while Hesse and Stella Martensen each had two hits.
Hesse, a sophomore, earned the win inside the circle, allowing just four hits with one strikeout.
Trask, an eighth-grader, Hesse, Ammerman, a freshman, and senior Sydnee Flaugh are the leading hitters for the Hawks this year. Lammers, a ninth-grader, leads the team in strikeouts and wins.
