Webster City girls place 2nd at Boone Invite
BOONE — The Webster City girls track team had a strong day at the Boone Invitational on Thursday.
Adysen Poppen won the shot put with a throw of 35-6.5. The sprint medley team of Kali Hartnett, Isabel Weinschenk, Cloe Savitski and Isabel Grossoehme also crossed first in 1:55.73.
“There aren’t many things more fun then a night full of season bests and personal records,” said WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach. “The bus ride home is a heck of a lot more enjoyable when we have a night like we did.
“From top to bottom, of our roster girls were competing with themselves and other teams. That’s something I believe you cannot coach. Your team wants to have that mindset. That’s the kind of mindset we need to have as we move closer to the championship phase beginning next week.”
Savitski was silver in the 100 (12.76) and bronze in the 200 (27.21). Avery Poppen brought home bronze in the discus with a throw of 105-11.
The 4×800 team of Ariauna Reed, Haedyn Soesbe, Lydia VanDeer and Evie Davis took third in a time of 12:05.89.
The quartet of Weinschenk, Grossoehme, Tristyn Wright and Savitski was third in the 4×100 (52.50).
The Lynx are at the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadet Relays on Monday.
