Webster City boys fare well at North Polk
ALLEMAN — The Webster City boys track and field team was in action here Tuesday at a meet hosted by North Polk.
Ballard finished first, with the Lynx placing fourth behind the Comets and Johnston.
Justin Callahan was involved in three of the four first-place finishes for Webster City, winning the 400 in 51.69 and the 400 hurdles in 57.04.
Callahan also ran the anchor on the winning sprint medley that clocked a time of 1:36.96 to set a new school record. Joining him were Kaleb Hansen, Aiden Hrnicek and Jayden Weinzetl.
Weinzetl scored the other gold medal, placing first in the 100 in 10.83. The senior added a runner-up in the 200. His time of 10.83 tied the school record set by state champion Keagan Parks.
“We had some outstanding performances on a perfect night,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “This group continues to impress with their hard work and improvement.”
The distance medley relay of Hansen, Dane Hansen, Daniel Murillo-Delfino and Carter Mickelson placed third.
Cole Nohrenberg was third in the discus.
Webster City runs again on Thursday in Boone. The field includes the host Toreadors, Des Moines Hoover, Perry, Saydel and Woodward-Granger.
