JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls track and field team placed second here Tuesday night at the George Abell Relays.

Roland-Story scored 171 points to take top honors, as the Hawks finished with 100. Webster City was third, followed by Ogden, Collins-Maxwell, Clarion-Goldfield/Dows and Northwood-Kensett.

South Hamilton won both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, as they recorded 10 other Top-4 performances. Sydnee Flaugh, Riah Van Del Pol, Emma Lammers and Brooklyn Doolittle went 53.85 in the 4×100 while Sara Scheller ran the 4×200 along with Flaugh, Van De Pol and Doolittle in a time of 1:54.95.

Bianca Seaton was second in the 800, as Scheller (400 hurdles), Isabel Swenson (high jump) and Tessa Skartvedt (shot put) each added thirds.

Fourth-place efforts for the Hawks went to Cici Herrick in the 400, Caitlin Bare in the 1,500, Kayley Zanker in the 3,000, Stella Martensen in the high jump and Claire Hewitt in the long jump.

The sprint medley and 4×400 relays each placed third, with the distance medley taking fourth.

Webster City swept the throwing events, as Avery Poppen won the discus (106-8) and Adysen Poppen the shot put (35-7.25). Cloe Savitski was second in the 200 and third in the 100.

Isabel Grossoehme added a second in the 800, as did Amanda Lahr in the shot put. Jakaela Cherry was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put.

The sprint medley relay quartet of Kali Hartnett, Isabel Weinschenk, Savitski and Grossoehme was a runner-up.

“We were very fortunate that South Hamilton was able to make room for us last minute after having back-to-back meets cancelled,” WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach said. “Many of the girls were itching for an opportunity to compete, and they took full advantage of it.

“One of the biggest positives of the meet was see the continued success and improvements from the girls who have truly bought into the strength training.”

Webster City heads to Boone on Thursday while South Hamilton runs in State Center.

Starting at $3.46/week.
