Lynx on the track for NCC meets
The Webster City boys and girls track teams will take part in the North Central Conference meet on Thursday.
The boys head to Clear Lake, with the girls’ meet in Iowa Falls.
Action begins at 5 p.m.
Joining the Lynx will be Algona, Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, Clear Lake and St. Edmond.
The Lynx boys are ranked fifth in the Bound power rankings for the conference heading into Thursday, with the girls coming in sixth.
Senior Jayden Weinzetl is the favorite in the 100-meter dash, entering the meet with the fastest time at 10.83. He is also seeded second in the 200, as is Jaxon Griffith in the 110 hurdles.
Justin Callahan ranks second in the 400 hurdles and third in both the 400 and 800. Carter Mickelson is fourth in the 1,600.
Cole Nohrenberg has the fifth-best discus throw among NCC athletes.
Weinzetl, Aiden Hrnicek, Daniel Murillo and Callahan have clocked the second-best time in the distance medley while Kaleb Hansen, Hrnicek, Weinzetl and Callahan are third in the sprint medley.
For the girls, Cloe Savitski owns the second fastest 100 time and is fifth in the 200. Isabel Grossoehme sits third in the 400, seventh in the 200 and eighth in the 800.
In field events, Avery Poppen is sixth in both the discus and shot put.
For relays, the Webster City 4×100 of Isabel Weinschenk, Grossoehme, Tristyn Wright and Cloe Savitski has clocked the third fastest time. The same goes for the 4×200 with Weinschenk, Kali Hartnett, Hailey Brim and Wright.
The sprint medley of Weinschenk, Wright, Savitski and Grossoehme ranks fourth. The 4×800 with Carmen Santiago, Lydia VanDeer, Haedyn Soesbe and Evie Davis is fifth.
