BELLE PLAINE — The South Hamilton boys golf team secured a spot in a district meet by winning a Class 1A sectional here Wednesday.

The Hawks finished with a team score of 324, besting BCLUW by 10 strokes for top honors. They will now head to Mason City for a chance to qualify for the state tournament on Monday.

Luke Martensen led the way for South Hamilton with a 75, as Sam Koehnk carded an 81.

Michael Carlson, Connor Deppe and Brody Harris each shot 84 while Landon Sogard was right behind with an 86.

The Hawks will be joined by qualifiers from three other sectionals at Highland Park Golf Course. The Top-3 teams and Top-2 individual players among the non-qualifying teams advance to state in Waterloo on May 27-28.
