Lynx have 6 events heading to Des Moines

DES MOINES — All six Webster City track and field qualifiers will be in action over the course of the first two days of the state meet here inside Drake Stadium.
On Thursday, Jayden Weinzetl, Isabel Grossoehme and Justin Callahan run races around the blue oval. Friday will feature Callahan, Adysen Poppen and Jakaela Cherry competing.
Weinzetl, a senior, will race the Class 3A 100-meter dash prelims on Thursday at 1:12 p.m. He is entered in the second of three heats, and has posted a season-best time of 10.83.
Last year, Weinzetl ran in the 200 prelims, finishing 18th.
Grossoehme, a sophomore, is also back for a second season. She will run the 400 at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and is in the second of three heats for the timed finals.
As a freshman, Grossoehme finished 14th in the 400 in exactly a minute. Earlier this year, she went 59.07.
Callahan, a junior, will be on the track shortly after Grossoehme, running in the second of three heats in a timed final at 1:50 p.m. He has gone 51.30 this year.
On Friday, Callahan concludes the day for the Lynx by running the 400 hurdles at 12:30 p.m. That race will also be a timed final, as he has posted a time of 55.73.
Poppen and Cherry are both entered into the shot put, which begins Friday morning at 9 a.m. Poppen, a senior, was 19th last year in the event and has thrown 37-6.5 this year.
Cherry, a junior, has a season-best toss of 37-4.
