IOWA FALLS — The Webster City girls track and field team put together a strong showing at the North Central Conference meet.

The Lynx had two runner-up finishes and eight more Top-4 medals to place in a tie for fourth overall with St. Edmond. Clear Lake captured top honors, followed by Algona and Humboldt.

“We came ready to compete and that was evident throughout the meet,” WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach said. “We set numerous personal records and bests this season. Fourth overall was one of our better finishes in the conference in quite some time.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the effort and commitment to being the best version of our team. I felt like our girls supported one another better than we have all year. The success of one meant the success of the entire team, and it was celebrated as such.”

Cloe Savitski was second in the 100 and placed fourth in the 200 as Isabel Grossoehme scored silver in the 400 with a PR and added an eighth in the 800.

Isabel Weinschenk, Grossoehme, Tristyn Wright and Savitski captured third in the 4×100. Weinschenk, Kali Hartnett, Savitski and Grossoehme did the same in the sprint medley relay.

The 4×200, 4×800 and shuttle hurdle relays all placed fourth. Hailey Brim, Wright, Weinschenk and Hartnett ran the 4×200, as Ariauna Reed, Evie Davis, McKenna Buakham and Lydia VanDeer comprised the 4×800.

Briley VanDeer, Wright, Hartnett and Weinschenk were in the shuttle hurdle relay.

In the field events, Adysen Poppen was fifth in the shot put, Jakaela Cherry had a PR to place fifth in the disscus, Briley VanDeer was sixth in the long jump with a PR and Avery Poppen sixth in the discus.

Hartnett, Briley VanDeer, Brim and Zoie MacRunnel won the junior varsity 4×100, with Cherry claiming the junior varsity shot put.

“We now turn our attention to districts,” Mosbach said. “We will have to step it up another level and finish with our best performances.”

The Lynx head to Nevada on Thursday for a Class 3A state-qualifying meet at 4 p.m.

Starting at $3.46/week.
