IOWA CITY — Former South Hamilton standout Austin Busch was honored during the annual Golden Herkys here on Tuesday night.

Busch, a redshirt sophomore with the Iowa track and field program, was named men’s Hawkeye of the year. Others honored include Stephen Buchanan II, Lucy Olsen, Sydney Affolter, Kaleb Johnson and Kylie Feuerbach.

Along with being a leader on the field, Busch shines in the classroom and the community. He ranks in the program Top-10 in the weight throw, hammer throw and indoor shot put while serving on the Iowa Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Busch represented Iowa at the Big Life trip in Selma, Ala. last summer and is a leader for Athletes in Action.

The Golden Herkys, now in their ninth year, are a way for the athletics department to recognize academic and athletic accomplishments from the student-athletes.
