SAYDEL — The Webster City boys track and field team completed the week with another strong performance here last Thursday at the Saydel Invitational.
Overall, the Lynx placed seventh, as Des Moines Christian took home team honors. Webster City scored seven Top-5 finishes on the night.
Zack Lahr led the way for the Lynx, as the sophomore captured gold in the 200-meter run in a time of 23.06.
Justin Callahan recorded a pair of runner-up finishes, scoring silver in both the 400-meter run (52.19) and the 400 hurdles (57.53). His time in the open 400 was a new personal record.
Jayden Weinzetl added another second to the collection, claiming runner-up honors in the 100 with a time of 11.44.
Webster City’s sprint medley relay of Kaleb Hansen, Aiden Hrnicek, Weinzetl and Callahan placed third in 1:39.26, as Cole Nohrenberg was fourth in the discus (135-8) and Daniel Murillo fourth in the 800 (2:07.73).
“After four meets in 10 days, we were definitely running with tired legs and needed to rest some people,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “That be said, we still had some fine performances. Jayden had a season best time in the 200 and Justin had a lifetime best in the 400 hurdles.”
Up next for the Lynx will be their home relays on Tuesday. The field includes Eagle Grove, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, Mason City, Pocahontas Area, St. Edmond and Waverly-Shell Rock. They will honor seniors Weinzetl and Max McGilligan during the meet.
