The Webster City girls golf team is still finding its rhythm as the season gets ready to tee off on Tuesday.
Despite struggling with cooler conditions while preparing for the year, the Lynx are still on track to open with a home dual against Manson Northwest Webster at Briggs Woods. New head coach Jeff Lyons welcomes back a strong junior class, with returning varsity regulars Alleyna Dawson, Ellie Peterson and Kenley Koop leading the way.
“I think it’s important that we continue to improve our individual stroke average, along with lowering our team score from meet to meet,” Lyons said. “Right now, I see our ability to get off the tee as a strength. We need to keep working on our chipping and putting.”
Dawson, Peterson and Koop were all on the varsity scorecard a year ago. Senior Sophie Dinsdale also offers experience for Webster City.
Freshmen Haydin Sealine and Abbie Heckert will round out the lineup on Tuesday against the Cougars. Junior Marley Runyan joins sophomores Carli Jessen, Hayden McCoy and Mylie Keller on the Lynx roster this spring as well.
Webster City is replacing three graduated players from the rotation in Claire Bailey, Kennedy Halling and Ava Peterson.
All of the squad’s home dates after Tuesday will take place at the Links Course.
