Lynx girls handle Comets
ALLEMAN — The Webster City girls tennis team picked up a 7-2 victory over North Polk here on Monday night.
Olivia Gallentine, Alivia Burns, Morgan Hackbarth, Cyra Christensen and Gabbie Sebert were all victorious in singles for the Lynx (2-1 overall).
“This was a big win for our girls as they absolutely dominated the singles side, making some big shots when they needed to in doubles,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “We know that some polls had North Polk in the Top-10, as they are a tough and veteran team, but our girls have shown a lot of improvement since last year.
“They’re playing with more and more confidence every meet, which has been really funt o see.”
Allie Severe and Burns, along with Christensen and Sebert, scored wins in doubles. Christensen and Sebert pulled out a close 10-8 decision.
“I thought all of our girls went in with great game plans and executed those plans well,” Fisher said. “We pride ourselves on being one of the more tactically smart teams, and they really did an amazing job of that.”
North Polk had won each of the last two meetings, including a 9-0 decision last year.
