Webster City girls cruise in regular-season finale

PERRY — The Webster City girls controlled their regular-season finale from start to finish in a 43-28 victory at Perry last Thursday night.

Freshman reserve Evie Davis recorded a double-double to pace the Lynx (4-17 overall), scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds — including six on the offensive glass. Senior Olivia Gallentine made 5 of her 6 shots to add 11 points, while also reaching double figures in rebounds with 10.

Gallentine dished out seven assists, had two steals and blocked a pair of shots for Webster City as well. Classmate Marissa Hedeen contributed 10 points and nine boards.

Davis chipped in three steals. The Lynx out-rebounded the Jayettes, 36-23.

“It was nice to win our last regular season game and have a little momentum going into the postseason,” WCHS head coach Marty McKinney said. “We rebounded very well at both ends of the floor. We also took care of the ball and only had 11 turnovers.

“When we were patient on the offensive end, we got some high-percentage looks.”

Perry is 5-16.

Webster City opens Class 4A regional play at Mason City (16-6) on Wednesday. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

Starting at $3.46/week.
