Slow start hampers Lynx girls at Iowa Falls-Alden
IOWA FALLS — After a slow start to the night, the Webster City girls got their offense clicking in the second half.
Unfortunately, it was a case of too little, too late, as Iowa Falls-Alden posted a 56-40 victory.
The Lynx scored 27 points over the final 16 minutes to help erase a deficit.
Olivia Gallentine scored 15 points with eight rebounds and four steals to lead the way. Evie Davis added nine points and seven rebounds while Tristyn Wright had five points.
Marissa Hedeen grabbed five rebounds for Webster City who held a 34-23 advantage on the glass vs. the Cadets.
Elody England scored 15 to lead Iowa Falls-Alden, with Brooklyn Handeland adding 11 and Cidni Phipps 10.
The Cadets are coached by Michael Collison, who previously led the IF-A boys program. He is the brother of ex-NBA standout Nick Collison.
In a 58-28 loss to Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Gallentine tallied seven points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Alivia Burns and Avery Poppen each added four points.
Webster City closes out the pre-Christmas portion of its schedule on Friday at home vs. eighth-ranked (Class 3A) Algona.
