JEWELL — The South Hamilton football team honored a fallen former Hawk here Friday night.

Owen Renaud, who graduated from South Hamilton last spring, passed away in a plane crash last week. He was a captain of the football team and a multi-sport standout during his time with the Hawks.

The school hosted a “white out” in honor of Renaud at Bill Taylor Field, with several of his close friends serving as honorary captains. Shirts were also made with all donations going to the Flying High Scholarship Fund, which was created by Renaud’s family.

An estimated 300 shirts were sold.

On the field, South Hamilton fell to Roland-Story, 56-0. Braden Young intercepted a pass for the Hawks.

Kolby Hodnefield had 42 yards rushing on 10 carries. Kaden Dean added 21 yards on the ground with his two attempts.

Landon Sogard caught a 35-yard pass from Young.

Roland-Story, a Class 2A power, is now 2-1 overall.

Young and Nick Severseike were the squad’s leading tacklers.

The Hawks will look for their first win this coming Friday when they host West Central Valley in a Class 1A, District 7 opener.

Starting at $3.46/week.
