Webster City edged in regular-season finale

A late comeback came up just short here Tuesday night for the Webster City baseball team.

After falling behind to Waverly-Shell Rock, the Lynx (17-13 overall) rallied for four runs before dropping their regular season finale, 5-4.

Josh Stansfield and Trevyn Lyons each drove in two runs while Keegan Hisler scored twice and stole a base.

Jaxon Griffith, Stansfield, Lyons and Josh Griep each had a hit while Braylon Dyvig and Matthew Tesdahl both scored runs. Griffith also had a stolen base.

On the mound, Alex Staley recorded three strikeouts in three innings of work.

Seniors Hisler, Griep, Klaver, Lyons and Stansfield were honored for their four years of contributions both on and off the field while wearing Lynx uniforms.

Webster City now sets its sights on Algona to begin Class 3A, Substate 2 play. The Lynx hit the road this Friday night.
