Postseason softball has arrived for Webster City, and the Lynx will begin their march to Rogers Park in Fort Dodge at home.
Up first for Webster City will be Nevada in a Class 4A, Region 2 opener here Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m.
The Lynx (16-12 overall) finished the regular season with a 4-3 win over Southeast Valley, going 2-1 down the stretch with the only loss being to top-ranked (4A) North Polk.
Delainey Bargfrede, a senior who is headed to Western Kentucky University in the fall, owns 14 wins with 125 strikeouts and a 1.06 earned run average. She is also the leading hitter for Webster City, batting .372 with 16 RBI, four doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs.
Ava Peterson, another senior, is batting .360 with 21 RBI, 20 runs, 15 steals, 10 doubles and three homers.
Nevada bested Hampton-Dumont/CAL last week to snap a three-game losing skid. The Cubs (10-21) are led by Meagan McGaffin, as the junior is hitting .463 with 41 RBI, nine homers and five doubles.
Inside the circle, Kaitlyn McGaffin has six wins and 50 strikeouts.
The winner between Webster City and Nevada advances to the Region 2 semifinals where they will take on Gilbert (17-16) on Saturday.
