Lynx can’t get past Algona

ALGONA — The Webster City baseball team couldn’t hold off Algona in a Class 3A first round game on Friday.

The Lynx (17-14 overall) built a 5-3 lead over the Bulldogs (26-7), but Algona scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth to earn a 10-5 victory, their third this season over Webster City.

For the Lynx Keegan Hisler was 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Josh Stansfield had a hit and an RBI as did Carter Mickelson. Trevyn Lyons had an RBI as well.

T Garman was 2-for-4 with a triple. He drove in three runs. T Slagle had two hits, two runs and an RBI. He had a double and a triple.

Daniel Keman had two hits and scored run. Aiden Ulrich and Dawson Elsbecker drove in runs.

Garman earned the win, after relieving Ulrich. Garman pitched three innings of no-hit ball. He struck out three. Ulrich went three innings giving up five hits and fanning one.

This was the last game for seniors Hisler, Josh Griep, Lyons, Stansfield, and Briar Kalver.
