Webster City posts two softball wins

The Webster City softball team closed out the week by going 2-1 over two days of play.

Last Friday, the Lynx topped Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 11-1 in five innings. They scored in all five, including back-to-back three-run frames in the fourth and fifth.

Ava Peterson drove in three while going 4-for-4 at the plate with a double while Delainey Bargfrede also had three hits and drove in a run. Bargfrede, who struck out nine, had a triple and a double.

Ellie Weinschenk scored twice as Bonnie Nohrenberg drove in two. Adeline Tesdahl, Breanna Bahrenfuss and Morgan Hackbarth all had an RBI each.

Peterson and Hailey Brim both stole two bases as the Lynx swiped nine overall.

At the Perry Tournament on Saturday, Webster City (3-1 overall) downed host Perry, 7-1, before falling to Van Meter, 10-0.

Tesdahl, Bargfrede, Cloe Savitski and Weinschenk all had two hits vs. Perry, with Tesdahl and Savitski scoring twice. Weinschenk drove in two as Tesdahl and Savitski each stole two bases.

Bargfrede struck out 10, allowing just five hits with no walks.

The Lynx head to Humboldt on Monday for a North Central Conference showdown.
