A three-run first helped provide the Webster City softball team the boost they needed to down Clear Lake here Wednesday night, 5-2.

The Lions would make a late rally, scoring a pair of runs in the sixth to cut into the 5-0 deficit.

Delainey Bargfrede was dominant inside the circle, striking out 14 while allowing just six hits. Both runs scored were unearned and the senior once again did not walk a batter.

The Lynx (6-1 overall, 4-0 in North Central Conference) stole seven bases with Adeline Tesdahl and Ava Peterson each recording two.

Bonnie Nohrenberg and Peterson both had an RBI as Tesdahl scored three times after recording three walks. Nohrenberg and Peterson scored once each.

Webster City returns to action Friday when they host Carlisle.

Starting at $3.46/week.
