Lynx trio earns All-State honrs

Another banner season for the Webster City boys soccer team now includes all-state selections.

Eddy Fuentes, Eduardo Perez and Francisco Ramirez Carmona were all recognized by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association. Fuentes made the all-state first team while Perez and Carmona were on the second.

Along with finishing fourth in the state in goals scored with 36, Fuentes, a junior, also tallied nine assists on 89 shots in 16 matches this past spring. The Lynx claimed a share of the North Central Conference regular season title and reached the Class 2A state tournament for a second consecutive season.

Perez, a senior, was third in all of 2A with 19 assists while also scoring 20 goals. Carmona, a junior, anchored the WCHS defense while also recording a goal.

Webster City finished the season 15-2 overall, scoring at least five goals in nine matches while allowing just eight goals in the regular season.
