Lynx close week with a victory

WC routs C-G/D, edges N-F

The Webster City baseball team turned the tables on Newell-Fonda here Saturday.

After falling to Don Bosco, 8-3, the Lynx avenged a loss earlier this season to the Mustangs at their own tournament, 3-2 in nine innings.

Alex Staley pitched five-plus, striking out three with just one hit and one earned run allowed. Gavin Griffith recorded four outs with a pair of strikeouts in relief.

Keegan Hisler and Trevyn Lyons both had doubles as Tesdahl and Lyons each drove in a run. Lyons finished 2-for-4 and Klaver scored twice.

In the loss to Don Bosco, Lyons had a double and drove in a run while Griep and Aiden Hrnicek also had an RBI with two steals.

Last Friday night, Webster City handled Clarion-Goldfield/Dows on the road, 11-0 in five innings. Hisler earned the win, striking out seven over four innings of work with just one hit allowed.

Hisler also stole two bases and was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored. Jaxon Griffith drove in three and Josh Stansfield had three hits.
