After posting a 5-3 victory vs. Humboldt here last Friday night, the Webster City softball team went 1-1 in action at the Roland-Story Classic on Saturday.

Delainey Bargfrede struck out nine and both Breanna Bahrenfuss and Ava Peterson drove in a run for the Lynx vs. Humboldt. Webster City, which improved to 9-1 in the North Central Conference and remained in control of second place in the league standings, scored one in the first and added three more in the third before plating an insurance run in the sixth.

Bahrenfuss had two hits, including a double. Peterson also had a double and scored a run.

Alivia Burns scored twice in the victory.

The Lynx fell to Saydel, 2-1, despite Bargfrede striking out 14 with just three hits allowed. Bahrenfuss drove in Cloe Savitski for the lone run in the narrow setback.

Webster City (13-7 overall), which heads to Clear Lake on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. varsity first pitch, scored in each of the first five innings in a 6-5 victory over AGWSR.
